Wehry to deliver address at Memorial Day program
Nicole Wehry, will be the guest speaker at the Memorial Day program May 28 in Wadena.
Wehry, a U.S. Army veteran, began her military career in 2002 when she joined the Minnesota National Guard. She deployed to Iraq in 2005 and spent time in Tikrit and Baghdad. Upon returning to the U.S., Wehry worked as a civilian contractor at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., until 2012.
Wehry and her husband, Jason, have three children and are members of the local VFW Post 3922.
The annual Memorial Day program will begin at the Memorial Wall in the Wadena Cemetery at 9 a.m. The program will include the placing of wreaths by the ladies auxiliary, selections from the Wadena-Deer Creek High School band under the direction of Lisa Weniger, a firing squad salute and the playing of taps. The invocation and benediction will be provided by Pastor Megan Clapp of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
The flag raising ceremony will take place by the mausoleum at 7 a.m.
In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the Memorial Auditorium in Wadena. There will also be a program to honor the service members who died at sea. That program will be held at Sunnybrook Park by the foot bridge to Fair Oaks Lodge by Highway 10 approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Memorial Day program.
